Dr. Mike Martinez

Interventional Spine Specialist, Anesthesiologist & Lead Physician at Stockyards Medical

Dr. Mike Martinez is a double board-certified Interventional Spine Pain Specialist and Anesthesiologist with a passion for helping patients find relief through cutting-edge technology and personalized care. Born and raised in Texas City, Texas, Dr. Martinez learned the value of hard work and education from his parents—his father, who worked in a local pressure vessel fabrication shop, and his mother, a dedicated homemaker. Their sacrifices and emphasis on education shaped his commitment to excellence and compassion, values he brings to every patient he treats.

Dr. Martinez’s journey in medicine began with a strong academic foundation. After graduating from a local Catholic school, he earned a BA in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin, with additional studies in Spanish and Business. Before pursuing medicine, he gained life experience working in diverse roles, from serving up snacks at Sam’s Club to managing international shipping in Guadalajara, Mexico—lessons that taught him humility, adaptability, and the importance of hard work.

He earned his medical degree from UNTHSC in Fort Worth, completed his anesthesia residency at the University of Missouri, and pursued a prestigious Pain Fellowship at UTMB Galveston, where he trained under some of the nation’s leading pain management experts. During his residency, Dr. Martinez pioneered the use of ketamine infusions to reduce narcotic dependency in pediatric patients, earning top honors at the Midwest Anesthesia Residents Conference in 2014.

In 2020, Dr. Martinez opened Way Out West Spine and Mobility Clinic in Fort Worth, blending his medical expertise with his love for the city’s vibrant culture and Western heritage. His practice reflects his commitment to addressing the root causes of pain with innovative treatments, all while maintaining a personal, down-to-earth approach.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Martinez is a devoted family man. He and his wife Brooke are proud parents to their baby girl and boy, who bring endless joy to their lives. The Martinez household is also home to three lively dogs—Mojo, Moneypenny, and Bisoux—who keep things fun and unpredictable.

When he’s not in the clinic, Dr. Martinez enjoys staying active through adult kickball and indoor soccer. He’s also an avid marksman, emphasizing gun safety and responsible ownership. A creative at heart, he loves exploring Fort Worth’s art museums, capturing moments with his mirrorless camera, and taking breathtaking aerial shots with his drone during family vacations.

Dr. Martinez’s life is a blend of hard work, family, and adventure—a reflection of his belief in living fully and helping others do the same.
